Shawn Eyestone

After growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, Shawn Eyestone attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and graduated in 1994 with a BA in Biology. It was at Luther that he met his wife, Mari, a graduate of West High School in Iowa City. After college, they moved to California seeking job opportunities and he began working on the production and packaging floor of a company that manufactured allergy diagnostic kits. Shawn and Mari were married in 1997 and quickly realized that they wanted to move back home to Iowa to raise their family. In 1999, Shawn began work at Integrated DNA Technologies in Coralville where he is still employed today, now working as the Manager of the High Throughput Quality Control Department.

The Eyestones have resided in North Liberty since 2000 and have enjoyed watching it grow. Shawn and Mari have two boys, Ryne (age 14) and Dylan (age 12). Ryne attends North Central Junior High and Dylan attends Garner Elementary. The family attends Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City where Shawn enjoys singing in the choir.

Shawn initially got involved with the Parent Teacher Organization when Ryne was in preschool at Van Allen Elementary, and in the following two years, took on a lead role in planning the annual fun fair at Van Allen. With the announcement of the opening of Garner, Shawn volunteered to be the PTO treasurer for the newly formed group. He is finishing up his 7th and final year in that role as Dylan moves on to Junior High.  At the same time, he became the school’s district-wide Parents Organization representative. He has been regularly attending the DPO meetings for seven years, including a five years as an officer on the DPO board. Shawn is now the DPO representative for North Central Junior High and Treasurer for the newly formed Liberty High School PSTO group.
